Introduction to the Healing Affirmation

Many of us, we call ourselves, Nons, for NonBPD, who have been in a relationship with someone who has this disorder, are traumatized and victimized. We maybe a child who grew up in an alcoholic home where we learned to ’keep up appearances’, to cover up for the parent who was drinking. We may be a child who grew up in the chaos that results from a mental illness, including all the many forms of mental illness. We may be the ’caretaker’ of a chronically ill parent who controlled the family through illness. We may be someone who fell in love hard, only to awake in the Land of Oz, with all the invisible injuries and damage that can result from borderline personality disorders or other mental illness.

We have been taught that our needs are not important. For our own healing and recovery, we must learn to put our mental wellness first. We must learn to be our own best friend, to like ourselves and even learn to love ourselves.

We invite you to make the following commitment to Healing and Recovery. We invite you to print this off, sign it and put it up where you can see see it daily. We invite you to take one small step towards wellness, healing and recovery each day. Every journey is made up on one step after another. The first and biggest step is recognition that we are in need of Healing.

This is taken from a healing workshop written for First Nations (Amerindian) peoples, but has been used by people from all of the many tribes of the Rainbow of Humanity. YOU are important. You did not CAUSE the disorder, you cannot CONTROL the disorder. You cannot CURE the disorder. The only place you can truly effect positive change is within your Spirit, your Soul, your life and your experiences.
