Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd

Who’s the Crazy One?

When observing relationships from outside the relationship, it is very easy to get confused about who is the crazy one. One fun way to understand this dynamic is to watch cartoons.

To anyone watching an entire Bugs Bunny cartoon, it is clear that the instigator is Bugs. However, from the point of view of other characters in the cartoon, it is often assumed that Elmer Fudd is the one who is psychotic. Why? Because Bugs pushes Elmer to the point that he acts like a raving lunatic, then when a third party shows up, Bugs is suddenly very calm and collected and Elmer is still raving like a mad man. Who gets hauled off by the men in white coats? Elmer of course.

Here's a couple of classics:

Bugs Bunny - Wabbit Who Came to Supper

Description: Another classic tale - Just as Bugs is cornered, Elmer Fudd learns that he has inherited a fortune - as long as he doesn’t hurt any animals. So Bugs invites himself home and makes a nuisance of himself.

Bugs Bunny - Wacky Wabbit

Description: Another classic tale - Elmer Fudd is out looking for gold, when he meets up with a crazy bundle of fluff, a.k.a. Bugs Bunny. Watch Bugs drive old Elmer crazy!

I didn't write the descriptions... but don't they sound familiar to us in Non-land? Now, it's important to make the distinction between the Elmer Fudd syndrome and Fleas. With fleas, the NonBP actually does have significant problems that should be dealt with, with Elmer Fudd syndrome, it's the perception of others that is the key component.
